From the statement for an installation at Box 13 ArtSpace:
How to preserve dead flowers, references the name of an in-progress project Wallace has been exploring non-publicly. A significant portion of her work seeks to re-imagine certain psychological landscapes. These landscapes have been structured via racism, sexism, and classism. Wallace confronts these landscapes by altering perception, literally and metaphorically through the interplay between: lightness and darkness, abstraction and representation, transparency and opacity.
